About our business listings

If your business appears on Insta Services and you never signed up, this page explains why, what we show, and how to claim, correct or remove your listing. It also contains our formal collection notice under Australian Privacy Principle 5 and our data attribution.
1. Why your business may appear on Insta Services
Insta Services is a marketplace app that helps people in Melbourne find local service providers. To make the map useful from day one, we display listings built from the ABN Bulk Extract — a public dataset published by the Australian Business Register (ABR) on data.gov.au. Around 11,740 businesses appear this way.
For each listing sourced from the ABR we show only:
- your business or trading name (for sole traders, this can be your own name),
- a service category — inferred by us, not published by the ABR, and
- an approximate map position based on your postcode, not your real address.
We also hold your ABN, state and postcode from the register. We use the ABN internally to identify the listing and to process claims — we do not display it in the app.
To be clear:
- We do not have your phone number, email or street address. The public extract does not contain them, so we do not show them and do not hold them.
- We have not contacted you.
- Appearing here does not mean you joined, endorsed or are affiliated with Insta Services. Your listing exists only because your business is on the public register.
2. What we changed
We modified the register data before displaying it:
- Display names are cleaned. For example, suffixes like "PTY LTD" are trimmed for readability. Your legal name on the register is unchanged.
- The service category is our guess. The ABR publishes no business categories, so we infer one using automated classification: keyword matching, plus an AI classifier — business names from the register are processed by our AI service provider, Anthropic (a US-based company), for this purpose. It can be wrong — a bakery could be tagged as a cafe. If your category is wrong, tell us and we will fix it or remove the listing.
- The map position is approximate. We place your listing at a point near the centre of your registered postcode area, with a small offset so nearby listings do not overlap on the map. It is not your address, and we do not know your address.
3. Your choices
You have three options, all free. Correcting or removing your listing needs nothing more than an email; claiming a listing requires creating a free account in the app, because a claimed listing becomes an account you control:
- Claim it. Create a free account, enter the ABN that matches the listing to take ownership, and control your details as a normal provider on the platform.
- Correct it. Ask us to fix the name, category or location shown.
- Remove it. Ask us to take the listing down entirely.
For any of these, email admin@digiscalability.com with your business name and ABN. We commit to actioning removal or correction requests within 2 business days.
4. Collection notice (Australian Privacy Principle 5)
Where a listing relates to an identifiable individual — most commonly a sole trader whose business name is their own name — the listing is personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This notice sets out the matters required by APP 5.
- Who is collecting: [FILL: legal entity name] (trading as DigiScalability), ABN [FILL: ABN], of [FILL: postal address]. Contact: admin@digiscalability.com.
- What we collected and how: business or trading name, ABN, business state and postcode, taken from the ABN Bulk Extract published by the Australian Business Register on data.gov.au. We refresh this data from the same source on a weekly schedule. We did not collect this information from you — it came from that public third-party source, and you may not have been aware we collected it, which is why we publish this notice.
- Why we collected it: to display a directory of local businesses in the Insta Services app so customers can find services near them, and to let businesses claim their listing if they choose to join.
- Consequences if we had not collected it: none for you. The listing is optional on our side and removable on yours — email us and we will take it down within 2 business days.
- Who we disclose it to: your business or trading name, inferred service category and approximate map position are displayed publicly in the app (your ABN, state and postcode are stored but not displayed). Business names from the register are sent to Anthropic (a US-based AI service provider) to classify listings into service categories. Our privacy policy at /legal/privacy lists the service providers that host our systems, including providers located in the USA and EU.
- Access and correction: you can ask for access to, or correction of, the information we hold about you (APPs 12 and 13) by emailing admin@digiscalability.com. We respond within 30 days.
- Complaints: email us first and we will investigate and reply. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
- More detail: our full privacy policy is at /legal/privacy.
